I haven’t posted to the blog in about a week. What???!!!! I know, I am a horrible excuse for a human being.
Really, I have been dealing with medical issues.
Last Wednesday, I showed up at the orthopedic specialist. After doing some x-rays and handing my doctor a list of symptoms he revealed to me that the source of my daily back pain and hip pain was Scoliosis. On top of that, he was having me tested for Inflammatory Arthritis.
Wait just a minute doctor man—arn’t you born with Scoliosis? And arthritis? I am 27! What the heck?
This last week was full of me trying to accept that I may have to take medication the rest of my life or live in pain. I ended up drinking the Koolaid and getting my prescriptions filled—a muscle relaxer and a pill for inflammation. The first day I was groggy, but in heaven. I was pain-free for the first time in years.
A few days ago, I woke up lethargic. Every time I stood up, I would get dizzy. I was shaking, feeling faint and blacking out. Turns out, I don’t do too well on medication.
My body is now back to normal, with the medicine finally out of my system. It is decided: I would much rather live with pain then be doped out or sick from prescriptions. Besides, it is hard to post to the blog when I’m blacking out and can’t see the screen.

I am 30 and was diagnosed with the same thing a few months back, scoliosis and all! My chiropractor recommended the Paleo lifestyle because grains cause inflammation in your muscles and the fluid in your joints (read: arthritis). One week after the switch, my pain was almost completely gone. Now, 6 weeks later, I feel amazing. It really is the key. You would truly have to change the way that you eat and be aware of what you are putting in your body but if it would cause you to not be in pain and to live a higher quality of life, wouldn’t you want to do it? I did. I couldn’t live with the pain anymore and I’m SO thankful that I made the switch. Let me know if you want to learn more about it.
OH and there’s a HUGE Paleo Foodie support system. You could be the next big Paleo blogger!
